I have had regular singing coaching with Jamie for almost 2 years and I genuinely believe he is the best of the best. Endlessly knowledgeable and talented, kind, funny, encouraging and immediately puts you at ease as soon as you enter the room. He gives great advice on everything voice related and always has a suggestion or technique for any and every problem or challenge. His knowledge is so extensive but it's his skill in adapting how he teaches to suit me as an individual that really sets him apart from all other vocal coaches I've worked with. The progress I've made and the enjoyment I get from singing with him has honestly changed my life so much for the better.

I have been working with Jamie for a couple of years now and he is different from any other singing teacher I have ever had. Every lesson feels like an exploration and every outcome is met with curiosity. Nothing is labelled as good or bad, just information to work with. I find this a refreshing change from some of my past experiences. I sometimes used to leave my previous lessons either close to tears or wanting to hide. In contrast, Jamie and I have a lot of laughs, even when things go wrong, so I leave feeling buoyant and encouraged. I always feel that whatever I bring is welcome with Jamie and I am starting to be able to sing with increasing freedom.
I also love Jamie's technical knowledge of the anatomy and physiology, as I am a body geek my self and like to know what is going on.
I love that Jamie offers lessons online too and find that we can achieve a surprising amount. Even over a computer screen, he can still see what my body is or is not doing and can offer suggestions to create a different sound. While I still like to see Jamie in-person periodically for some more hands-on demonstrations, I find that the online option is great for making progress in-between times without having to travel. Jamie actually first commented on the increased freedom of my voice during an online lesson, perhaps because I was at home, in my safe and familiar practice environment.
I heartily recommend working with Jamie, both in-person and online. I think he can help anyone to find their best voice. - Robert Bone··from Google
Over the last few months I had been noticing my throat had been getting a little sore – not enough to worry about or to cause issues when performing, but enough for me to be aware of it.
Jamie assessed my voice, and saw how modulates the amplitude of various frequencies; and how it changes in different situations as I perform.
Fortunately I’ve not been doing any damage to my voice but said that I wasn’t using it to maximum efficiency which is causing some strain on the vocal chords in some situations. We went through some more exercises for me to do at home, and warm-ups I can do before a performance, that will help my voice.
One of the biggest take-aways is Jamie is really good at explaining just what is happening in my throat, how the voice-box works, and how everything comes together to not only affect the sound that comes out, but how it is heard in the ears of the spectators. Not only understanding this helps with the ‘why’, but also makes me more aware and conscious of what is happening, and how I can adapt it in real time to not only make myself better heard and understood in potentially noisy situations; but to ensure that no damage is being done to keep myself being heard for years into the future.
